How to Store Outdoor Furniture in Winter (and What Can Be Left Out)

Do you really need to drag it all into the garage every October? Not if you’ve chosen the right materials.

🪑 What can stay outside all winter:

  • HDPE wicker sets (like our Amalfi range)

  • Powder-coated aluminium frames

  • Tempered glass tables

  • Olefin cushions (if stored or covered)

Covering them is still smart — but panic-storing isn’t needed.

🧼 Quick winter-prep checklist:

  1. Give everything a good clean (read our blog on this)

  2. Store cushions indoors or in a waterproof box

  3. Use breathable covers (avoid the sweat-trap kind)

  4. Raise legs slightly if furniture sits on grass or damp patio

  5. Don’t pile heavy objects on glass or cushion tops

🚫 What not to do:

  • Don’t store anything still damp

  • Don’t shrink-wrap plastic furniture (it traps moisture)

  • Don’t leave uncoated steel frames exposed

✅ Best storage ideas:

  • A dry garage or shed

  • Dedicated cushion storage boxes

  • Weatherproof furniture covers
